Shady officiating leads to Duke's 5th national title
Led by Tyus Jones and Jahlil Okafor, the Duke Blue Devils outscored the Wisconsin Badgers by 14 points over the final 13 minutes to survive long enough for a 68-63 victory for the program's fifth national championship.
However, the game had its fair share of missed calls. Late in the game in the seconds leading to Okafor's basket, Duke's Justise Winslow stepped on the baseline, but the whistle never blew, and he delivered it to Okafor for the score. Moments later, replays showed the ball went out of bounds off of Winslow's fingertips that should've given Wisconsin possession of the ball. The referees instead made it Duke's possession.
Beyond that point, the Blue Devils gave head coach Mike Krzyzewski five titles, who now stands alone in second place on the NCAA all-time list, behind only UCLA's coach John Wooden.
