Geno leads UConn women to their 10th national championship
Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis and Moriah Jefferson each scored 15 points to lead the Connecticut Huskies to their 10th national championship with a 63-53 victory over Notre Dame Fighting Irish. This marks UConn's third straight title as the Huskies have now won all ten of their trips to the national title game under head coach Geno Auriemma.
Breanna Stewart added 15 rebounds and eight points for Connecticut, who finished the season at 38-1. The UConn-Notre Dame matchup was just the second time in the history of the tournament that the same teams played in the finals in consecutive years. The Huskies defeated Tennessee in 2003 and 2004.
As for Geno Auriemma, he now joins UCLA's men's basketball head coach John Wooden with his 10th NCAA tournament championship.
