Detroit took a 6-3 lead into the 8th inning and once again, with the bullpen taking over, Baltimore took advantage as former Tiger Delmon Young drove in three runs with a pinch-hit double as the Orioles scored four runs in the bottom half to pull out a 7-6 victory to lead the best-of-five AL Division Series, 2-0.

Detroit will return home to Comerica Park to avoid a sweep in Game 3 this Sunday afternoon (3:45 pm) when third straight Cy Young winner, David Price goes up against Baltimore's Miguel Gonzalez.

Jake Peavy took a no-hitter into the 5th inning and Hunter Strickland & the rest of San Francisco's rested bullpen barely protected a lead as the wild-card Giants won their league-record ninth consecutive postseason game by defeating Stephen Strasburg & the Washington Nationals, 3-2, in Game 1 of the NL Division Series.

Game 2 is this Saturday eveving at 5:30 pm with Washington's Jordan Zimmermann, who threw a no-hitter in the regular-season finale, going up against Tim Hudson.

Matt Carpenter's hit highlighted an eight-run 7th inning as the St. Louis Cardinals went on to defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers, 10-9, in a high-scoring National League Division Series opener.

Game 2 will be Saturday night at 9 pm when St. Louis' Lance Lynn faces Los Angeles' Zack Greinke, the 2009 American League Cy Young Award winner.

Extra innings are starting to become the norm in Kansas City as Eric Hosmer hit a two-run homerun in the 11th to give the Royals a 2-0 lead in the AL Division Series with a 4-1 victory over the Los Angeles Angels. Kansas City became the first team in MLB history to start the postseason with three straight extra-inning games.

With a pumped-up crowd promising to fill up Kauffman Stadium, the Royals will return home as they look to sweep the ALDS in Game 3 this Sunday night at 7:30 pm, where James Shields will face Angels left-hander C.J. Wilson.
