Rain postpones Game 3 of ALCS to Tuesday night
Four hours before the first pitch, it became official on Monday that Game 3 of the American League Championship Series between the Kansas City Royals and the Baltimore Orioles would be postponed due to steady rain that nearly flooded Kauffman Stadium. The game has been rescheduled for this Tuesday night at 8 pm.
Along with steady rain, wind gusts of 25 mph slammed into the ballpark. The forecast for Tuesday in Kansas City calls for cold and windy conditions, but dry with the weather improving the rest of the week. The last two times the Royals played a postseason game at home, rain fell after the final out. This time, it started well before the first pitch.
With a 2-0 lead in the ALCS, the Royals will keep former Orioles pitcher Jeremy Guthrie on the mound for Game 3 while Baltimore will start Wei-Yin Chen as planned. Meanwhile in the NLCS (series tied 1-1), the start time of Game 3 in San Francisco between the Giants and the St. Louis Cardinals has been pushed back from 8 pm to 4 pm ET.
