Red Wings fall short in overtime against Montreal, 2-1
Alex Galchenyuk scored the tying goal with 3:09 left in regulation time and David Desharnais got the game-winner in overtime as the Montreal Canadiens defeated the Detroit Red Wings, 2-1.
Henrik Zetterberg, with an assist from Pavel Datsyuk, scored in the 2nd period for Detroit, who gained a point in the standings (8 points) and are in a 3-way tie for 3rd place in the Atlantic Division in the Eastern Conference.
The Red Wings return home to the Joe Louis Arena this Thursday night at 7:30 pm when they face their arch-rival Pittsburgh Penguins.
