Tatar forces overtime, but Red Wings fall to Calgary, 3-2
Mikael Backlund scored in overtime after Detroit's Tomas Tatar tied it with 1.8 seconds left in the 3rd period as the Calgary Flames defeated the Red Wings, 3-2, for their sixth straight win.
Darren Helm also scored for Detroit, who opened the night 10 points out of a playoff spot and last in the Eastern Conference.
The Red Wings will stay in Alberta as they head to Edmonton to take on the Oilers this Saturday night at 10 pm ET.
