Royals return favor with 10-0 shutout to force Game 7
Yordano Ventura, a 23-year-old rookie pitching with a heavy heart and the initials of late St. Louis outfielder Oscar Taveras on his cap, allowed three hits over seven innings as the Kansas City Royals broke open the game with a seven-run 2nd-inning beatdown to shutout the San Francisco Giants, 10-0, to tie the 2014 World Series at three.
The raucous crowd at Kauffman Stadium took in with every hit in the 2nd inning and got louder the rest of the night as Lorenzo Cain hit a two-run single, who was one of eight Royals to get a hit in the seven-run onslaught.
This Wednesday night at 8 pm, Jeremy Guthrie will start for Kansas City and Tim Hudson will be on the mound for San Francisco in the final game of the 2014 Major League Baseball season. Hudson, 39, will become the oldest Game 7 starter in World Series history.
