Pistons lose to Timberwolves, 97-91, despite late rally
Thaddeus Young scored 19 points and hit a 3-pointer with 90 seconds left in the game to help Minnesota to a 97-91 victory over Detroit, making former Pistons head coach Flip Saunders a winner in his first home game as Timberwolves coach since 2005.
Caron Butler scored 24 points and D.J. Augustin had 20 points & six assists for the Pistons, who opened the season with two straight losses on the road under first-year head coach Stan Van Gundy. Andre Drummond had 11 points & 12 rebounds, but he was limited in the 2nd half by foul trouble and the Timberwolves held off a late charge from the Pistons.
Still in pursuit of their first win, Detroit (0-2) will return home to the Palace of Auburn Hills to begin a 4-game home stretch, starting with this Saturday night at 7:30 pm against the Brooklyn Nets.
