Michigan beats Indiana; CMU & WMU become bowl eligible
Behind breakout performances from running back Drake Johnson and wide receiver Amara Darboh, the Michigan Wolverines gave the Indiana Hoosiers a beatdown in a 34-10 homecoming win inside Michigan Stadium. The Wolverines, who opened a 17-point first-half lead, have now won 19 straight meetings between the two schools dating back to 1988 and are 54-9 in the all-time series. Next Saturday, Michigan will travel to Northwestern to face the Wildcats at 3:30 pm.
Devon Spaulding & Saylor Lavallii combined to run for 259 yards and four touchdowns as the Central Michigan Chippewas dominated the Eastern Michigan Eagles, 38-7, at Rynearson Stadium. The win was Central's fourth in their last five starts, and it lifted the Chippewas to 6-4 (4-2 MAC), making them bowl eligible for the seventh time in the last nine years. Both teams will be back in action in two weeks (Nov. 15) when CMU hosts Miami (OH) and EMU travels to Kalamazoo to face Western Michigan.
The Western Michigan Broncos ran up nearly 500 yards of offense and became bowl-eligible for the first time since the 2011 season as they trampled all over the Miami RedHawks, 41-10, at Yager Stadium. The Broncos improved to 6-3 on the season (4-1 MAC) and after resting on a bye week, they will return home to Kalamazoo to host Eastern Michigan on Saturday, November 15.
