MSU defeats Syracuse on the road; CMU falls short vs. Gophers

Aerial Powers had a career-high 32 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Michigan State Spartans over the Syracuse Orange, 89-76, in the final game of the Florida Sunshine Classic at Rollins College.
Tori Jankoska scored 18 of her career-high-tying 25 points in the 2nd half and finished with 10 rebounds for the Spartans. Becca Mills contributed with 19 points.
After their Christmas break, Michigan State will be back in action in East Lansing to begin their Big Ten season, starting with Northwestern next Sunday (12/28 ) at 2 pm.
The Central Michigan Chippewas were unable to get past the Minnesota Golden Gophers as they lost, 67-64, in their second and final game of the Subway Classic.
Crystal Bradford scored 27 points and freshman Cassandra Breen added 16 points to lead Central Michigan.
The Chippewas will return to action from Christmas break next Sunday afternoon on the 28th when they host Horizon League member, Oakland at 1 pm.
