Price wins goalie battle as Red Wings lose to Montreal, 2-0
Tomas Plekanec snapped a scoreless tie with 2:30 remaining and goalie Carey Price made 25 saves for his fifth shutout of the season as the Montreal Canadiens walked out of the Joe Louis Arena with a 2-0 shutout victory over the Detroit Red Wings.
Goaltender Jimmy Howard, making his second start for Detroit since missing five weeks with a groin injury, stopped 27 shots as the Red Wings lost their third straight game. The Wings are 0-3 against the Canadiens this season.
To finish off the rest of February, Detroit will now go on a long six-game road trip, beginning with a stop in Chicago to take on their Original Six & long-time rival Blackhawks. Game time is set for 7:30 pm.
