14 seeds UAB & Georgia State ruin brackets to start tourney

William Lee scored the last four points for the #14 UAB Blazers as they eliminated the #3 Iowa State Cyclones, 60-59, in their opening game in the NCAA tournament. It's the third straight year a #14 seed has upset a #3 seed.

Robert Brown led UAB with 21 points while Lee finished with 14 points & 12 rebounds as the Blazers won the rebound battle, 52-37.

The Blazers (20-15) will now play #11 UCLA this Saturday in the 3rd round of the South region.




Almost an hour after #14 UAB pulled off the upset, R.J. Hunter's 3-pointer with 2.7 seconds remaining capped a comeback from a 12-point deficit that lifted the #14 Georgia State Panthers to a 57-56 opening-game victory over the #3 Baylor Bears in the 2nd round of the 2015 NCAA men's tournament.

Hunter finished with 16 points on 5-of-12 shooting, Ryann Green scored 11 points, and Markus Crider finished the day with 10 points for Georgia State.

Georgia State (25-9) which will play #6 Xavier this Saturday in the 3rd round of the West region.
