Walkoff single hurts Tigers in 11th vs. Red Sox, 2-1
Xander Bogaerts' single in the 11th inning drove home the winning run as the Boston Red Sox snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory over the Detroit Tigers.
Former Tigers pitcher Rick Porcello, who spent the past six seasons in the Motor City, allowed one run over seven innings while striking out six batters without a walk. Tigers starting pitcher Justin Verlander, who is still looking for his first victory, gave up a run and seven hits in eight innings as Detroit have now lost their last eight in 11 games.
Hoping to end a game in nine innings this time, the Tigers will be back at Fenway Park to face Boston again this Saturday afternoon at 4 pm.
