Daniel Norris makes successful Tigers debut vs. Orioles, 6-1
After being traded from Toronto, the 22-year-old Daniel Norris took a three-hitter into the 8th inning while J.D. Martinez shook off a knee injury from the night before to hit a three-run homerun as the Detroit Tigers defeated the Baltimore Orioles, 6-1.
Norris allowed just one run, four hits, and a walk in 7 & 1/3 innings -- the longest outing of his career. The left-hander hadn't started in the majors since April 30, and was 3-10 with a 4.27 ERA for Triple-A Buffalo this season.
After taking Monday off, the Tigers return home to Comerica Park for the rest of the week as they get ready for a three-game series with the AL Central-leading Kansas City Royals. The first game is set for this Tuesday night at 7 pm.
