Arrieta helps Cubs shutout Pirates in NL Wild Card game, 4-0
Chicago's starting pitcher Jake Arrieta allowed just four hits in nine innings as the Cubs rolled on to a 4-0 shutout win over the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2015 NL Wild Card game.
Dexter Fowler homered and scored three times for Chicago and Kyle Schwarber added a two-run homerun off Pittsburgh's starter pitcher, Gerrit Cole.
Arrieta struck out 11 batters without a walk and avoided a confrontation in the 7th inning after getting beaned by Pirates reliever Tony Watson to send the Cubs to the NL Division Series, where they will face their NL Central rival Cardinals in St. Louis for Game 1 this Friday.
