Texas up 2-0; KC evens series; Cardinals & Mets win Game 1
Hanser Alberto lined a tiebreaking single to center in the 14th inning to help the Texas Rangers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays, 6-4, to take a 2-0 lead in their American League Division Series. The series now heads south to Arlington, Texas where the Rangers have a chance to sweep Toronto this Sunday night at 8 pm.
The Kansas City Royals rallied from a three-run deficit to pull away with a 5-4 victory over the Houston Astros to even their ALDS at one. Game 3 will be held in Houston this Sunday afternoon at 4 pm.
John Lackey outpitched his old teammate Jon Lester, allowing just two hits into the 8th inning, and rookies Tommy Pham & Stephen Piscotty each homered late as the St. Louis Cardinals came away with a 4-0 shutout victory over the Chicago Cubs in the opener of their NL Division Series. Game 2 will be this Saturday afternoon at 5:30 pm
Jacob DeGrom struck out 13 batters over seven scoreless innings and Daniel Murphy homered off Clayton Kershaw to help the New York Mets defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers, 3-1, for a 1-0 lead in their NL Division Series. Game 2 will take place this Saturday night at 9:30 pm ET.
