Cubs finish off Cardinals, Dodgers force Game 5 after beating Mets
Javier Baez, Anthony Rizzo, and Kyle Schwarber homered as the Chicago Cubs clinched a postseason series at Wrigley Field for the first time ever by eliminating the St. Louis Cardinals, 6-4, to win the NL Division Series in four games. Chicago will play Game 1 of the National League Championship Series this Saturday on the road against the winner of the N.Y. Mets-L.A. Dodgers NLDS series.
Clayton Kershaw saved Los Angeles from another early playoff exit by pitching the Dodgers to a 3-1 victory over the New York Mets that forced their NL Division Series to a deciding Game 5. Working on only three days' rest, Kershaw shut down the Mets for seven innings and Justin Turner delivered a key hit against his former team as the NLDS shifts back to Los Angeles this Thursday night at 8 pm. Dodgers will start Zack Greinke to go up against Mets starting pitcher, Jacob deGrom.
