Rally cut short as Red Wings lose 1st game to Carolina, 5-3
Brock McGinn, in his NHL debut, scored on his first shift as the Carolina Hurricanes handed the Detroit Red Wings their first loss of the season, 5-3.
Gustav Nyquist, Riley Sheahan, and Teemu Pulkkinen all scored for Detroit while goaltender Jimmy Howard made 31 saves.
Up next for the Red Wings is a 4-game Canadian week-long road trip, beginning this Saturday night in Montreal at 7 pm.
