Howard not able to get goal support as Wings fall to Ottawa, 3-1
Kyle Turris and Matt Puempel scored in the 1st & 2nd periods and Bobby Ryan added an empty-net goal in the final minute to help the Ottawa Senatores defeat the Detroit Red Wings, 3-1.
Detroit's captain Henrik Zetterberg scored on the second of two powerplays with a two-man advantage late in the 2nd period and goaltender Jimmy Howard made 32 saves.
In less than 24 hours, the Red Wings will head to Ottawa for a quick rematch with the Senators this Saturday night at 7 pm.
