Central becomes bowl eligible; Western suffers tough loss at NIU
Jahray Hayes ran for two touchdowns and quarterback Cooper Rush threw for a third as the Central Michigan Chippewas became bowl eligible with a 27-14 road win over the Kent State Golden Flashes. Faced with the need to win their final two games to secure a winning season and a more decent shot at the postseason, CMU (6-5, 5-2 MAC) will head back home to Mt. Pleasant to face their in-state rival Eastern Michigan next Friday (Nov. 27) at 1 pm.
Jordan Huff ran for 159 yards on eight carries, including an 87-yard touchdown run, as the Northern Illinois Huskies defeated the Western Michigan Broncos, 27-19. WMU scored 10 straight points in the 3rd quarter, which included Andrew Halderman making a short field goal and quarterback Zach Terrell throwing a 72-yard touchdown pass to Corey Davis to put the Broncos up 19-14 before the fallout in the 4th quarter.
