Central loses tough battle vs. Minnesota in Quick Lane Bowl, 21-14
Quarterback Mitch Leidner ran 13 yards for a touchdown with 4:26 remaining as the Minnesota Golden Gophers, who entered the game with a 5-7 record, held on for a 21-14 win over the Central Michigan Chippewas at the Quick Lane Bowl.
Romello Ross ran for 100 yards on 19 carries, but Central's quarterback Cooper Rush went just 15-of-29 for 145 yards with an interception.
Despite a winter storm, the attendance was 34,217 at Ford Field, thanks in part to the Chippewas, from Mt. Pleasant, being a part of the game. Last year's bowl game between North Carolina and Rutgers drew only 23,876.
