Pistons topped Washington 113-102 at the Palace
Charlie Villanueva scored all 16 of his points in the second quarter, helping the Detroit Pistons build a lead they wouldn’t relinquish in a 113-102 win over the Washington Wizards.
Villanueva made three 3-pointers, then added a conventional three-point play that started a 10-0 run that put Detroit ahead 60-49 shortly before halftime. Tayshaun Prince, who has been bothered by back problems, added 20 points for the Pistons in his first appearance in five games.
John Wall had 24 points and seven assists for the Wizards, who dropped to 1-29 on the road. Detroit has won eight straight over Washington.
Wizards coach Flip Saunders missed the game, as expected, two days after the death of his mother. Randy Wittman ran the team in his place.
