Red Wings endure long day at the Joe vs. Pittsburgh, 7-2
Carl Hagelin scored twice, Phil Kessel had a goal & four assists, and Nick Bonino's career-high five points helped the Pittsburgh Penguins pound the Detroit Red Wings, 7-2.
Detroit pulled goaltender Petr Mrazek, for the second time this season against Pittsburgh, late in the 2nd period after he gave up four goals on 15 shots. Coming in as a backup, Jimmy Howard gave up the other three goals.
On the plus side, the Red Wings are still in the playoff picture at the #8 spot, thanks to Arizona defeating Philadelphia later that night. Detroit will continue to hold on to their position when they host Buffalo at the Joe Louis Arena this Monday night at 7:30 pm.
