Tigers avoid major collapse against Minnesota, 10-8
Nick Castellanos spared the home crowd of embarrassment by hitting a tie-breaking homerun in the 7th inning and J.D. Martinez homered in the 8th inning to help the Detroit Tigers overcome a near-major disaster against the Minnesota Twins, 10-8.
The Tigers led 8-0 after the 1st inning with AL ERA leader Jordan Zimmermann on the mound, only to see Minnesota come back to tie the game in the 7th inning. Detroit manager Brad Ausmus was ejected in the 4th inning for arguing a called third strike. During the argument, he took off his sweatshirt and used it to cover up home plate.
The Tigers will push for a third straight win against the Twins at Comerica Park this Tuesday night at 7 pm.
