Tigers avoid collapse with 8-6 win over Blue Jays
Starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez was two innings away from a no-hitter and Miguel Cabrera left the game with a calf injury as the Detroit Tigers survived long enough to pull away with a 8-6 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. Detroit led 8-0 before the 8th inning.
Miguel Cabrera left the game in the 4th inning when he hurt his left calf while making a break for second base on an attempted hit-and-run play. Cabrera had an MRI and showed no injury to his Achilles tendon, but will be examined again this Saturday. Sanchez's no-hit bid was broken up when former Tiger Ezequiel Carrera lined a single to left field with one out in the 8th inning.
With Cabrera out of action, the Tigers will look to build momentum once again against the Blue Jays on the 4th of July (this Saturday) at 1 pm.
