Tigers suffer another long night vs. Kansas City, 6-1
Raul Mondesi broke open a scoreless tie in the 3rd inning with a homerun off Detroit's starting pitcher Justin Verlander as the Kansas City Royals went on to a 6-1 victory over the Tigers.
Filling in for Miguel Cabrera, who is recovering from a strained left bicep, Jarrod Saltalamacchia homered the only run for Detroit, who have now lost seven out of their last nine games.
The Tigers will look to avoid a series sweep against the Royals this Wednesday night inside Comerica Park at 7 pm.
