In a near-encore performance, Predators even Cup Finals at two
An undrafted free agent playing in just his sixth postseason game, Frederick Gaudreau scored the go-ahead goal 3:45 into the 2nd period and goaltender Pekka Rinne made 23 saves as the Nashville Predators defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins, 4-1, to even the 2017 Stanley Cup Finals at two.
Gaudreau, a 24-year-old rookie, is the second player in NHL history to score his first three career goals in a Stanley Cup Final, joining Johnny Harms with the 1944 Chicago Blackhawks. Calle Jarnkrok, Viktor Arvidsson and Filip Forsberg also scored for Nashville, who improved to 9-1 at home.
The Predators will now head back to Pittsburgh for Game 5 this Thursday night at 8 pm.
