PITTSBURGH PENGUINS - 2017 STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS
Patric Hornqvist scored with 1:35 left and goaltender Matt Murray made 27 saves for his second straight shutout as the Pittsburgh Penguins became the first team in nearly two decades to repeat as Stanley Cup Champions with a 2-0 shutout win over the Nashville Predators in Game 6.
Pittsburgh won their fifth title -- all of them clinched on the road -- to tie the Wayne Gretzky/Mark Messier-era Edmonton Oilers for sixth on the all-time list. The Detroit Red Wings in 1997 & 1998 were the last champions to defend their title.
After celebrating with a parade, the Penguins, along with the rest the NHL, will prepare for the 2017 NHL Draft, which will begin Friday, June 23rd at 7 pm.
