Tigers wrap up 1st half of season with 5-3 win over Cleveland
Michael Fulmer outlasted All-Star teammate Corey Kluber and Alex Presley hit a tiebreaking, two-run double to help the Detroit Tigers survive the last game of the 1st half of the MLB season with a 5-3 win over the Cleveland Indians.
Fulmer (9-6) held it together until the 7th inning, Shane Greene worked out of a bases-loaded threat in the same inning, and Justin Wilson managed to get five outs for his 10th save in 11 tries for Detroit.
Because Fulmer started the final game before the break, he'll watch the All-Star Game from the bullpen on Tuesday night. As for fellow All-Star Justin Upton, only time will tell if he'll produce for the American League. And with trade rumors and other player movements being whispered within the club, the Tigers (39-48) will look to salvage their season when they resume this Friday night in a 3-game weekend series against Toronto.
