Tigers end 1st half of season at .500 with 7-1 loss to Twins
Kyle Gibson won his fourth straight start after throwing seven strong innings and rookie Miguel Sano hit a two-run homerun to lead the Minnesota Twins to a 7-1 win over the Detroit Tigers.
Starting pitcher Shane Greene (4-7) allowed seven runs on seven hits and three walks in just 4 & 2/3 innings for the Tigers after being recalled from Triple-A.
Detroit finished the 1st half of the season back at .500 (44-44), which is the worst since 2008. Currently, they are in 3rd place in the American League Central Division and are nine games behind Kansas City (52-34) & Minnesota (49-40).
After David Price and J.D. Martinez take care of business for the American League at the 2015 All-Star Game in Cincinnati, Ohio, the Tigers will return home to Comerica Park to begin the 2nd half of the season with a three-game weekend series with the Baltimore Orioles (44-44). The first game begins this Friday night at 7 pm.
