Tigers score early as they power past Royals, 5-2 on Opening Day
In front of 44,799, the fourth largest crowd in Comerica Park history, the Detroit Tigers flexed their muscles early with four runs in the first leading to a 5-2 victory over Kansas City on Opening Day. Victor Martinez's three run double off of Royals starter Kyle Davies and and RBI double from Jhonny Peralta to a quick 4-0 lead after one inning.
Miguel Cabrera had an triple and two runs scored.
Detroit's Max Scherzer went six innings allowing one run and seven hits striking out three and walking two. Jose Valverde pitched a scoreless ninth for his second save.
