Lightning force Game 7; Sharks win in OT to advance
Dwayne Roloson, Tampa Bay's 41-year-old goaltender, who says the key to thriving in the postseason is to have a short-term memory, stopped 27 shots to outplay Pittsburgh’s Marc-Andre Fleury as the Lightning beat the Penguins, 4-2 to force a Game 7 in their first round Eastern Conference series.
After the Sharks killed off a 5-minute major penalty that continued into overtime, Joe Thornton scored 2:22 into the extra session to give San Jose a 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Kings and winning the first round series 4-2. All that remains in the Western Conference is Tuesday's Game 7 matchup between the President's Trophy winner Vancouver Canucks & the defending Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks to determine who the Sharks, the Detroit Red Wings, & the Nashville Predators will face in the 2nd round.
