Tigers beat the Miami Marlins 3-1 in Jupiter Florida. Rick Porcello, who went 14-9 last season, also made his spring debut. He allowed an unearned run and a hit in two innings.
Detroit's center fielder Austin Jackson went 2 for 3 to raise his spring average to .444 in four games.
