Rangers prevail in triple OT; Predators shut out Coyotes
Marian Gaborik scored at 14:41 of triple overtime well past midnight to give the New York Rangers a 2-1 win against the Washington Capitals and a 2-1 lead in this fiercely contested Eastern Conference semifinal series. Henrik Lundqvist, who stopped 45 shots for the Rangers, spent the better part of 4 1/2 hours repelling pucks and shooing skaters from the crease.
Pekka Rinne returned to dominating form with 32 saves - including one while laying on his back during a 5-on-3 power play late in the 3rd period as the Nashville Predators notched their first playoff shutout in eight years with a 2-0 win over the Phoenix Coyotes in Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinal series.
