Verlander helps Tigers take down Cubs, 5-3

Justin Verlander pitched eight solid innings and helping himself with a pair of sacrifice bunts as the Detroit Tigers defeated the Chicago Cubs, 5-3 to cap an encouraging 4-2 interleague road trip through Cincinnati and Chicago.
Austin Jackson hit a tiebreaking RBI single in the 7th inning and a two-run homerun in the 9th to help the Tigers to their fourth victory in five games.
Interleague action continues this Friday night when the Tigers return home to Comerica Park for a hot weekend series against the Colorado Rockies. Game time is set for 7 pm.
