Justin Verlander pitched eight innings allowing a run and four hits plus Delmon Young hit a three run homer in the sixth braking a 1-1 tie led the Tigers to a 4-2 win over the White Sox now tied for first place in the American League Central.

Verlander (13-7) gave up a solo homer in the first inning off of Alejandro De Aza, after that run he allowed just three hits the rest of the game striking out eleven for 209 so far this season.

Down 1-nothing in the sixth the Tigers had a single and a walk, then after four off speed pitches Delmon Young hit a three run homer into the Tigers bullpen for a 4-1 lead.

Jose Valverde worked for his 28th save pitching the ninth inning.
