Tigers lose tough one to Cleveland on Labor Day, 3-2
Prince Fielder doubled to lead off the bottom of the 9th inning with Detroit trailing by one run, but the Tigers failed to get Fielder home and dropped the opening game of a three-game series to the Cleveland Indians, 3-2, in front of 35,418 at Comerica Park.
Delmon Young hit an RBI single with the bases loaded in the 1st inning to drive in a run before Brennan Boesch grounded into a double play. Young also doubled and came home on Jhonny Peralta’s single down the left-field line in the 4th inning, which tied the game at two.
The Tigers will attempt to reclaim a share of the AL Central lead Tuesday night when they face the Indians at 7 pm.
