Barry Zito pitched 5 2/3 innings allowing just one run on six hits for the win, while also hitting a RBI single in the fourth inning. The Tigers finally got on the board in the sixth inning when Triple Crown Winner Miguel Cabrera singled in a run. Lucky bounces also went the Giants way all night long. Angel Pagan hit a double when the ball skipped off of the third-base bag, and Delmon Young didn't run on a tapper at home plate that turned into a double play catching Prince Fielder on his way to second base. The Giants bullpen was strong allowing only two runs when Jhonny Peralta hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning off reliever George Kontos. Detroit hopes to shake off the cobwebs in Game 2 on Thusday night when they send Doug Fister(0-0, 1.35) to the mound to face Madison Bumgarner (0-2, 11.25) for a 8:00 PM start.
