The Detroit Tigers broke the Oakland A's 9 game wining streak 7-3 in Oakland on Saturday afternoon.
Justin Verlander pitched 6 innings giving up just three hits, one run, and three walks while striking out six. Oakland opened up the scoring going up 1-0 in the first inning. Detroit then scored on three consecutive home-runs in the 3rd, and 4th innings from Tori Hunter, Prince Fielder, and a three run shot by Jhonny Peralta putting the Tigers up 5-1. Oakland's starter Brett Anderson made it through 5 2/3 giving up 7 runs on eight hits, including the three home-runs. Brayan Pena and Austin Jackson added RBI in the sixth inning putting the Tigers up 7-1 in the sixth. Oakland added two more runs in the seventh, but that would be all, as Detroit held on for the win. The Tigers will try to take the series on Sunday when they send Anibal Sanchez to the mound to face Jarrod Parker for a 4:05 start.
