Fister & Tigers make quick work of the White Sox, 2-1

It only took a litte over two hours, but Doug Fister pitched eight strong innings at Comerica Park with just 88 pitches on the night, 60 of those for strikes,as the Detroit Tigers defeated the Chicago White Sox, 2-1.

Tigers newcomer, Jose Iglesias, playing third base for an ailing Miguel Cabrera, started off the scoring in the 4th inning as he brought home Prince Fielder. Austin Jackson homered in the 5th to essentially give Detroit the game winner.

Tigers closer Joaquin Benoit recorded his 11th save of the season as he shut down Chicago in the 9th inning. Detroit looks to extend their six-game winning streak when they send Max Scherzer (15-1) to the mound this Saturday night to face John Danks (2-8 ) for a 7 pm start.
