For his 34th of the season, Miguel Cabrera hit a two-run homerun off Yankees closer Mariano Rivera with two out in the 9th ininng to tie the game, but Brett Gardner's RBI single in the 10th inning lifted New York past the Tigers, 4-3, to end Detroit's 12-game winning streak.

After the start of the game was delayed 52 minutes due to rain, Yankees infielder Alex Rodriguez, in his first home game since returning from his hip injury and then suspension & appeal, received a mix of cheers & boos throughout the evening as he struck out three times, flied out to right, and left four runners on base.

The Tigers look to start a new winning streak this Saturday afternoon when they face the Yankees again in New York at 1 pm.
