Detroit needed only seven innings to defeat Cleveland this time, thanks to a thunderstorm that began falling just past 10 p.m. and lasted a bit more than an hour before it was called. With a 7-2 win over the Indians, the Tigers increased thier AL Central division lead by 7 & ½ games.
Miguel Cabrera left in the 2nd inning, due to an abdominal strain and starting picther Rick Porcello threw 5 & 2/3 innings and gave up two runs on five hits.
The 3-game weekend series continues as the Tigers will face Cleveland again this Saturday night at 7 pm from Comerica Park.
