Tigers shutout Red Sox, 3-0, to reduce magic number to 17
The Detroit Tigers scored their first two runs to start out their 9-game road trip in shutting out the Boston Red Sox, 3-0, thanks to Doug Fister and a trio of relievers. With Cleveland losing to Baltimore, 7-2, the Tigers' magic number in the AL Central division has been reduced to 17.
Jose Iglesias fueled his plus-.300 average by doubling in the 3rd inning on the first pitch of his first at-bat and executing double plays in the first two innings.
Detroit continues their series with Boston this Tuesday night at 7 pm from Fenway Park.
