Scherzer denied #20 again as Tigers fall to White Sox, 5-1
Max Scherzer pitched a season-low four innings after giving up four earned runs and a throwing error that led to another run for the White Sox as the Detroit Tigers lost to Chicago, 5-1, at U.S. Cellular Field.
Miguel Cabrera and Tigers manager Jim Leyland were ejected by home plate umpire Brian Gorman in the top of the first inning after Cabrera was hit on the knee by a slider from White Sox starter Chris Sale as he tried to check his swing and no call was made.
With the magic number still at 15 in the AL Central division, thanks to Cleveland's 4-3 win over Kansas City, Detroit will look to blow off some steam this Tuesday night when they play Chicago at 8 pm.
