Thanks to Jose Iglesias' speed and Miguel Cabrera's first homerun in three weeks in the 7th inning, the Detroit Tigers achieved a 6-2 win over the Seattle Mariners to bring them closer to their third straight American League Central Division title.

However, due to Cleveland defeating Kansas City, 5-3, the Tigers' magic number reduced to only 6 in the AL Central. If Detroit continues at this pace, it's projected that they will clinch the division by the end of the weekend.

The Tigers' quest for the postseason continues this Wednesday night when they play Seattle at Comerica Park at 7 pm.

MAGIC NUMBERS AROUND THE LEAGUE

NL WEST - L.A. Dodgers down to 2 after defeating Arizona, 9-3
AL EAST - Boston down to 3 after losing to Baltimore & Tampa Bay losing to Texas
NL EAST - Atlanta remains at 4 after being shut out by Washington, 4-0
AL WEST - Oakland down to 6 after defeating the L.A. Angels & Texas defeating Tampa Bay
NL CENTRAL - St. Louis down to 11 after defeating Colorado & Pittsburgh losing to San Diego
