Losing steak hits five as Red Wings fall to Islanders, 2-1
Anders Lee scored the winning goal in the 2nd period as the New York Islanders came away with a 2-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings. Detroit has now lost five games in a row and haven't been able to defeat the N.Y. Islanders at the Joe Louis Arena since 2003.
Henrik Zetterberg scored for the Red Wings and starting goaltender Jimmy Howard left the game after the 1st period with a lower-body injury. Backup goalie Petr Mrazek finished the night with 22 saves.
Detroit will look to snap out of their slump this Sunday evening at the Joe when they host their old rivals, Colorado at 6 pm.
