East beats West in men's action; Western women win

Mike Talley scored a career-high 24 points as the Eastern Michigan Eagles pulled away in the 2nd half to defeat the Western Michigan Broncos, 69-63.

Talley made four 3-pointers and was 8-of-9 from the free throw line. Raven Lee added 15 points and Brandon Nazione finished the day with 11 points for the Eagles. Tucker Haymond & David Brown led Western Michigan with 14 points apiece while Connar Tava added 12 points & 10 rebounds.

Both teams will be back in action this Wednesday night as Eastern (14-7, 3-5 MAC) travels to Toledo to face the Rockets while Western (13-8, 4-4 MAC) returns home to Kalamazoo to host Kent State. Game times for both games are set for 7 pm.

The Western Michigan Broncos went on the road and defeated the Miami (OH) RedHawks. With the win, the Broncos are now in sole possession of 1st place of the MAC West Division. It's the first time since 2008 that Western Michigan has been atop of the MAC West.

Senior A.J. Johnson scored a game-high 19 points and tied a career-high with five three-pointers for the Broncos. Junior Miracle Woods finished with 17 points & six rebounds and junior Alex Morton recorded 10 points & nine assists, which also tied her career-high.

Western Michigan (14-6, 7-2 MAC) will head to Akron this Wednesday night to face the Zips at 7 pm.
