Powerplay goals help Red Wings get past Islanders, 4-1
Tomas Tatar and Gustav Nyquist scored powerplay goals to help the Detroit Red Wings defeat the New York Islanders, 4-1. The Red Wings won for the seventh time in eight games.
Brendan Smith scored a one-timer with 47 seconds remaining in the 2nd period and Jonathan Ericcson also scored for Detroit in the 3rd period.
The Red Wings will take a few days off before going on their mountain west trip, beginning this Thursday night against their old rivals in Colorado. Game time is set for 9 pm ET.
