Mrazek makes 28 saves as Red Wings shutout Colorado, 3-0
Red Wings goaltender Petr Mrazek made 28 saves for his first shutout of the season to lead Detroit to a 3-0 victory over the Colorado Avalanche. Pavel Datsyuk recorded his 555th career assist to move into fourth place on the franchise list, ahead of Stanley Cup champion Sergei Federov.
Justin Abdelkader scored in the 2nd period for the Red Wings and Darren Helm & Luke Glendening added empty-net goals in the last three minutes of the 3rd period. Detroit improved to 8-1-0 in their last nine games and pulled to within two points behind Tampa Bay for the top spot in both the Atlantic Division and the Eastern Conference.
Up next for the Red Wings is a trip to Arizona to face the Coyotes this Saturday night at 8 pm ET.
