Tigers post 4th shutout of the season with 1-0 win vs. Pirates
Detroit's starting pitcher Alfredo Simon held the Pittsburgh Pirates to just two hits over eight innings as the Tigers held on for a 1-0 shutout win to improve to 8-1 on the season.
Rajai Davis hit a leadoff homerun in the 6th inning against Francisco Liriano (0-1) as Detroit shut out Pittsburgh for the second straight day. Tigers reliever Joakim Soria worked a perfect 9th inning for his fourth save of the season.
After taking a day off, Detroit returns home to Comerica Park to begin a 10-game homestand, beginning this Friday afternoon at 1 pm against the Chicago White Sox to start a three-game weekend series.
